The East End Student Film Project has issued a call for volunteers, sponsors, mentors and entries for its second annual competition.

This year's project has been expanded to include high school and college-age filmmakers from Southampton and East Hampton towns in addition to Riverhead, Southold and Shelter Island towns. Entrants -- who must be 18 or younger for the high school division, and 19 to 25 for the college division -- may submit films in the documentary, drama/comedy and animated film categories. Films must be no longer than 15 minutes, and they may not have been submitted to the 2006 contest. Prize winners will receive gift certificates to B & amp;H Photo in the amount of $500 for first; $250, second; and $150, third.

Entrants, along with anyone interested in volunteering for or sponsoring the contest may contact project coordinator Paul Henry at 631-477-1226 or eesfp@hotmail.com. Potential mentors, particularly those with experience or expertise in filmmaking and related disciplines, are also invited to contact Mr. Henry.

Entries must be submitted -- in triplicate and DVD format -- by Friday, Sept. 7. Winning films will be announced and screened at the film festival on Saturday, Sept. 29.
